Regency Period Penwork Box On Metal Claw Feet

Regency period penwork box on metal claw feet. The box elaborately decorated in foliate scrolls, with the top a scene depicting an exotic garden, with a woman and child beside a courtly attendant shading them with a parasol. The box faintly signed in cursive to the underside ‘Lano’.

Circa 1810

The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers lists a W Lano of Greek Street, Soho, London, as a maker of decorative boxes.
