Regency period mahogany partners' writing table

Regency period mahogany partners' writing table of unusually large size. The top with three inset panels of buff colored leather with gilt-edge embossing, above three frieze drawers to each side. The piece supported either side by splay legs, terminating in brass caps and casters. The drawers stamped 'E R Hammond Bell Yard Lincoln's Inn'. One of the ancient inns of court, it is thought that E R Hammond might have been an early 19th century barrister or solicitor with chambers in Bell Yard, a short street to the south of Lincoln's Inn.
