Japanese red lacquer and brass mounted palanquin chair. The horseshoe top rail with scroll terminals and suspending a curved backsplat with ruyi head-pierced panels bracketing a central gilt-painted diaper-patterned panel, all above a maroon colored leather seat and supported on pivoted crossed stretchers, all the wooden members decorated with gilt flowers amid scrolling leafy tendrils on a red lacquer ground and applied with foliate-etched metal fittings.
