A fine Irish Regency 3 pillar dining table. The figured mahogany top having a thumb nail moulding running round the edge. The tilt-tops are supported by turned baluster columns on powerful four splay bases. The legs have bold lotus leaf carving to the knee and terminate in scrolling foliate toes. The table is completely original throughout and it is of imposing proportions.
Attributable to Mack, Williams and Gibton, Dublin.
The firm of Mack, Williams and Gibton was formed around 1812 and flourished until the death of John Mack in 1829. The firm is famed for its use of finest timber and its quality of workmanship is comparable to the Lancastrian firm of Gillows. The timber quality and scrolling foliate toe of this table closely relates it to other known tables by this leading firm.
Circa 1830
